After the massive success of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, fans eagerly await From Software's next game - the Elden Ring. There's very little we know about Elden Ring, except that it is a dark fantasy game, which takes inspiration from Norse mythology. From Software is also collaborating with Game of Thrones’ author George R.R. Martin in creating the game's story/lore.
Since the original announcement in 2019, fans only received an announcement trailer of the game. The Japanese developer later stated that fans will learn more at Taipei Game Show 2020. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, the Taipei Game Show got canceled. This silenced all news about Elden Ring until recently when the developer thanked fans for supporting the game.
If you didn't know, The Game Awards will take place on December 10. It is the same day when CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 will also launch. The Game Awards' official Twitter page posted a short gif to remind fans of the upcoming event. And surprisingly, Bandai Namco's director of marketing and communications Lee Kirton retweeted the post by stating "Big Day!" Now, fans are taking this statement as some kind of tease and many are even thinking Elden Ring will finally show up. They are likely expecting some gameplay footage.
Speaking of The Game Awards, From Software's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice won the game of the year awards in 2019. So, there's a good chance that the developer will use the event's stage to announce Elden Ring's release date.
Personally, having played Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, I am extremely excited to see what From Software has to offer in the Elden Ring. While there isn't much that we know, Xbox's head Phil Spencer claimed last month that he has played quite a bit of Elden Ring.
Elden Ring is currently in development.
