We finally have an official launch date for Final Fantasy XVI and it’s June 22, 2023. The game is coming to PlayStation 5 and starting today, players can now pre-order the Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s Editions.
Final Fantasy XVI is set in the Final Fantasy universe but offers a new standalone story set in Valisthea, a land blessed in the light of the Mothercrystals. But the peace in this place has started to falter as Blight spreads and threatens to destroy its dominions. The fate of the land now lies at the hands of the Eikons, powerful and deadly creatures, and the Dominants, men and women blessed with the ability to call upon and wield them.
The game follows one Clive Rosfield, a warrior given the title “First Shield of Rosaria” and sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, Eikon of Fire. As the story starts to unfold, Clive becomes caught up in a great tragedy and ultimately swears revenge on the Dark Eikon Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity wherever it goes.
