We finally have a release date for Final Fantasy XVI, well, sort of. The game is scheduled for launch worldwide on PlayStation 5 in the summer of 2023. That means about a year of waiting, assuming there are no more delays.
It had been announced sometime back that the development of the game was delayed by almost six months due to the pandemic. While there's no specific date, it's likely still good news to fans who are just itching to learn more about the game. To celebrate this announcement, a new trailer has been released which you can watch below:
In a statement, Final Fantasy XVI Producer Naoki Yoshida shared the latest trailer to give fans a clearer picture of the gameplay. For those not able to watch the trailer, it features Clive Rosfield wielding a full arsenal of attacks unique to the game's many Eikons (summons). The trailer also shows the epic clashes between the Eikons themselves.
Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XVI Director Hiroshi Takai revealed that the trailer also introduced some new Eikons along with giving fans a quick look at the battle system. He added that while the game is fully playable from beginning to end, there are still some challenges that they need to fix to get to that final push.
Talking about the team, Yoshida said that they are now in the final stages of development and focused on polishing the game. With what the PS5 can offer, Yoshida went on to say that they expect a seamless, story-driven, and white-knuckle ride.
