Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location is about a week away from release, and fans are curious about how the game will review. In light of that discussion, its developer, Scott Cawthon, casually referred to the project as a risk.
On the game’s dedicated Steam community forum, one fan voiced concern that the upcoming spinoff might be panned like the FNaF World RPG was earlier this year. Shortly after that title launched, it was pulled from Steam for several weeks while major updates and fixes were coded. In response to widespread fan disappointment, Cawthon admitted the game was rushed and vowed to never make the same mistake again.
That unfortunate event brings us to Sister Location’s release. While Cawthon remains cognizant of his past failures, one might say that he’s trying to move beyond them. “This is just the nature of adding something new to any series and a risk that every developer takes,” he said. With regard to Sister Location, he also expressed that he has “no idea what the response will be. Everyone might love it, or everyone might hate it. Obviously I hope that the response will be positive! Only time will tell,” he recently mused.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location will technically be the sixth game in the beloved horror series that took the world by storm in 2014 and 2015. As referenced by our colleagues at Design & Trend, the game intends to be different from its main predecessors while also featuring a story that’s canon to the established timeline. It touts a cast of new animatronic enemies with a few returning favorites. Teaser clues suggest that its narrative may be tied to the franchise’s mysterious purple villain as well.
Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location is expected to come to Steam on Oct. 7. Mobile releases will likely follow shortly thereafter.
