Fox and Marvel are working on an untitled pilot for Bryan Singer’s next X-Men project and they’ve found their first mutant, Entertainment Weekly reports. Blair Redford ( Switched at Birth , Satisfaction ) will play someone named Sam, “the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network.”
The series centers around a human family who has two mutant teenagers. In danger from the government, they find an underground mutant network to survive. It appears Redford’s character is the leader of that group.
Not much else is known about the series plot or how it will connect to the movies, but when writer Matt Nix was asked if there would be any X-Men universe characters in the show at the Television Critics Association Tour in January, he said, “Some.” So it is possible this ‘Sam’ could end up being a mutant from the comics.
“It's sort of designed to sidestep questions like, ‘Where is Wolverine?’ You sort of have to answer those questions. I didn't want to do anything like, ‘Wolverine is just off screen!’ It exists in a world where those questions are answered without needing to name a lot of names or spend a lot of time dwelling on those issues.”
