Hearthstone revealed that Galakrond’s Awakening is all set to launch on January 21. This is the last solo adventure in the Year of the Dragon and ends the saga that started with The Dalaran Heist.
In the last adventure, the Tombs of Terror were unsealed and plagues were then spread across Uldum. Fortunately, the League of Explorers managed to defeat the Plague Lords. Unfortunately, Rafaam managed to escape with the Plague of Undeath, along with the plan of resurrecting none other than Galakrond.
Unlike the previous adventures, this new one lets players choose between two stories. One involves the League of Explorers and the other features the League of E.V.I.L. This not only allows players to play both versions of the story, players also get to expereince different endings.
In addition, Galakrond’s Awakening also marks a return to the classic linear adventure format. Thus, players can can progress through the story by completing individual boss encounters in order.
Each story has four chapters, with each one offering three encounters. This means there is a total of 24 unique battles. During each encounter, players have the option to control either one of the heroes or the villains. In addition, players receive a premade deck made specifically for that particular encounter.
Once players finish a chapter, they can take a shot with Heroic Mode. Instead of having a premade deck, this mode gives players a chance to build their own deck for a more challenging experience. Players who win this mode earn two different card backs: Explorers and E.V.I.L.
Similar to the previous solo adventures, the four chapters roll out on a weekly basis. For the fist chapter, the E.V.I.L. side is available for free, but the Explorers version needs to be purchased. All individual chapters are available for 700 gold or $6.99 each. Meanwhile, the full adventure can be purchased for $19.99.
Fireside Gathering
Once the new adventure is launched, players can gather their friends in order to prepare for the final clash of Good and E.V.I.L. Beginning January 21 and running until February 9, players can party up for a Galakrond’s Awakening Fireside Gathering. Players can take on the new adventure together. If everyone is feeling competitive, they can see who finishes a chapter first.
