The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 may be competing with the rumored iPhone 7, particularly when it comes to camera features. Reports out of Korea indicate the manufacturer may include a dual lens camera on the upcoming phablet, a feature also rumored for Apple’s upcoming flagship.
Currently, reports indicate third party manufacturers have begun producing iPhone 7 cases, which include a wider camera space. While unconfirmed, such leaks are often a good indication of a feature making its way to a smartphone. At this time there is no validity to the rumor for the Galaxy Note 6. Samsung has not commented on the claim.
Dual lens cameras are far from a new technology. Consumers have already seen such features on devices like the Huawei P9, the LG G5 and the original ZTE Axon. With dual lenses, users can easily capture images at different focal points, like micro (close up) or macro (far away). Users can also execute better distant panorama shots as well as adjusting focal points for blurring images
There are already several rumors about the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 camera. Prior reports claim the device may include IR autofocus in its camera. Other reports suggest Samsung may be using technology from its NX line of professional cameras on smartphones.
Rumors surrounding the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 have gotten quite interesting in recent weeks. Reports indicate that Samsung may forgo the Galaxy Note 6 moniker in favor for Galaxy Note 7 or Galaxy Note 7 Edge. There is also news of Samsung filing trademarks for eye scanning technology under the names Galaxy Iris and Galaxy Eyeprint in Korea, Europe and the U.S.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is expected to be announced in mid-August, similar to how its predecessor, the Galaxy Note 5 was announced Aug 13 of last year.
