Filming for Game of Thrones Season 7 has moved to Iceland, typically used as a shooting location for scenes set at The Wall and points north. Kit Harington has already been spotted, so Jon Snow, King in the North, will definitely be taking a jaunt north of The Wall in Season 7, rather than just turning his attention to Queen Cersei in the south. Might wights and the Night’s King have something to do with the scenes they’re shooting?
Whatever he faces, Jon Snow won’t be taking it on alone. Two other unlikely cast members have been spotted in Iceland: Joe Dempsie (Gendry) and Paul Kaye (Thoros of Myr). Gendry hasn’t been seen on Game of Thrones since Season 3, while Thoros of Myr had only a brief scene in Season 6.
While we don’t know exactly what’s going down north of The Wall in Game of Thrones Season 7, the concatenation of cast members implies a couple things. It seems likely that Gendry escaped Dragonstone and took up with the Brotherhood Without Banners. But what are Jon Snow and the Brotherhood doing together?
While we don’t have a clear answer, Gendry seems to be the connective tissue between a number of different factions in Game of Thrones Season 7. Back in October, Watchers on the Wall spotted Gendry at a Spanish shooting location with Tyrion Lannister and Davos Seaworth. Whatever Gendry’s role in the joining, it looks like Season 7 will see a united front of Jon and Daenerys’ people, plus other, smaller factions like the wildlings and Brotherhood.
As Game of Thrones approaches its endgame, it looks as if much clearer battle lines will be drawn
