It’s been nine years since fans have been in Stars Hollow, but that will change Nov. 25 at 12:01 a.m. PST (3:01 a.m. EST) when Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres on Netflix.
Fans can look forward to four 90-minute episodes of the revival series, featuring many of the show’s favorite characters, including Rory, Lorelai, Emily, Luke and Lane.
A Year in the Life will aptly follow the four seasons of the year in each episode, starting in winter, and moving through spring, summer and fall.
Things will pick up with Rory moving back to Stars Hollow at the age of 32, the same age her mother, Lorelai was when Gilmore Girls first premiered. Rory became a journalist, but is currently unemployed and living a "vagabond" lifestyle, according to Emily in the revival promo.
Lorelai and Luke are dating; however, much like the original series, the longevity of their relationship may come into question. Lorelai expresses wanting something more in her life.
Lorelai’s mother and Rory’s grandmother, Emily is dealing with the passing of her husband Richard and living life as a widow.
Viewers can also look forward to classic Gilmore Girls moments such as banter between Lorelai and Rory as the two eat copious amounts of junk food and quirky happenings in their small Connecticut town, including Stars Hollow: The Musical.
So far, reviews of A Year in the Life have been mixed. But considering it was the enduring power of the Gilmore Girls fandom that prompted show makers to create the revival, those who loved the original show are sure to be a lot more forgiving.
