Granblue Fantasy: Versus has released patch 1.40, which adds the Boss Battle Time Attack mode and the GBVS: Blitz game mode. There are also new episodes added to the game with the patch.
That’s not all as Season 2 DLC characters Belial and Cagliostro are set to be added to the roster. Belial will release on September 23 while Cagliostro arrives in October.
There’s going to be a total of five new episodes added to Granblue Fantasy: Versus with the patch. Details include:
- Impossible Encounters
- Location: Albion Citadel
- Unlock Requirements: Clear Episode 40: “The Absolute”
- Tears
- Location: Albion Citadel
- Unlock Requirements: Clear Episode 41: “Impossible Encounters”
- The Dregs of Darkness
- Location: Albion Citadel
- Unlock Requirements: Clear Episode 42: “Tears”
- Facing Distortion
- Location: The Grandcypher
- Unlock Requirements: Clear Episode 43: “The Dregs of Darkness”
- Captain’s Will
- Location: The Grandcypher
- Unlock Requirements: Clear Episode 44: “Facing Distortion”
Going back to the new game modes, the Boss Battle Time Attack has players go against each other to see who can take down bosses faster. Meanwhile GBVS: Blitz is a limited time Ranked Battle event. The actual start dates for these two modes will be announced in-game.
Meanwhile, for the two new characters, Belial is going to be difficult for players to learn, especially with his rather deceptively standard moveset. He does have some unique abilities along with a tricky neutral fighting style that can take down any unsuspecting challenger. Belial is going to be voiced by Japanese voice actor Yoshimasa Hosoya.
No details have been given for Cagliostro except that she’s going to be voiced by Sakura Tange. That said, the English language voiceovers won’t be released along with the characters due to issues related to COVID-19.

ARCREVO Online 2020
XSEED Games announced that it has partnered with Arc System Works America to launch ARCREVO America Online 2020 in October of this year. It’s going to feature Granblue Fantasy: Versus and BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. The top two players from each region for each of the two games are going to be invited to be part of an America vs Japan exhibition match scheduled for Spring 2021.
