Halo 3: ODST was released on PC along with Firefight a few days ago. It is the fifth game, out of six, from the Master Chief Collection to make the jump to PC. Now the only game in the MCC that hasn’t been released on PC is Halo 4, and thankfully, that’s going to change soon. The game that started the Reclaimer Saga will begin its first public flight before the end of October. ‘Flight’ is just another term for Beta if you are confused.
The studio announced the coming Halo 4 flight via its official weekly blog post. However, do keep in mind that these dates can change if different circumstances present themselves. Normally, access to the beta is given to a select few people. You can sign up for the beta via the Halo Insider Program. Keep in mind, that signing up doesn’t guarantee your spot, but it definitely increases your chances. If you don’t want to play the beta and just want to enjoy the final game, then you will need to wait a couple more weeks. The beta for each game normally lasts a handful of weeks, so this time shouldn’t be any different.
Halo 4 is the final game in the Master Chief Collection. All the other games from the MCC are already available on PC and were released chronologically. The games already released for PC are Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 3: ODST. Halo 4 will complete the collection on PC.
Halo Reach was released back in December 2019. Now, we will have all six Halo games within one year, which is an impressive streak by 343. That’s not all, as 343 Industries is currently developing Halo Infinite, which will release sometime in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. The only major Halo game that won’t be available for PC will be Halo 5 (which we can honestly live without).
Halo 4's launch on PC will not mean the end of support for the Master Chief Collection. 343 Industries will keep releasing updates that fix known issues. Who knows, maybe they will also add some new additional content?
