Halo Infinite release date has been up in the air since the initial delay. The game was supposed to be the launch title for Xbox Series X|S. But got delayed due to reasons. Microsoft didn’t provide any information about the game’s new release date, except that it will release next year.
Master Chief Motion capture actor, Bruce Thomas, recently claimed that Infinite will launch in spring 2021. Yet Microsoft didn’t give an official confirmation. Yesterday, during the December 2020 blog post, Halo Infinite Creative Director Joseph Staten said that the game will come out by fall. While the actual release date is unknown, at least we now have a solid idea.
Halo Infinite got delayed for an entire year. Not the biggest delay in video game history but still a long one. Staten has been part of the development team of almost every major Halo game, except Halo 4 and 5. So, we know that the game is in good hands.
Staten wasn’t afraid of explaining the setback. The underwhelming reception at the Campaign Gameplay Premiere in 2020 was a wake-up call for 343 Industries. The need for extra development time was a must and that’s exactly what they did. I always say a delayed game is better than something rushed.
“I joined 343i right as the team was wrestling with feedback from the July campaign demo… we needed more time to do things right. That included pushing hard in the Fall, giving the team time to recharge over the Holidays, and then coming back in January to finish the game at a healthy pace,” said Staten.
A year's worth of extra game development time will definitely help with the visuals. Halo Infinite is presumed to be a next-gen title that shows off the power of Xbox Series X. Spectacular visuals are a very important part of it. A blog post showed us some screenshots of the game, and it honestly looks a lot better now.
Halo Infinite will continue the story of our favorite Spartan, Master Chief where he will combat mankind’s greatest enemy – The Banished. The game will launch for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass on Day One.
