Halo Infinite is one of the most anticipated games coming to next-gen consoles, and was expected to launch along with the Xbox Series X/S. Due to COVID-19 and tons of complaints received during the Xbox showcase a few months ago, Microsoft has delayed the launch of Halo Infinite until next year. It will be the first time that Microsoft has released a new Xbox without Halo in the lineup since the release of the original Xbox.
“Having Halo at our launch would have been tremendous,” Cindy Walker stated in an article from The New York Times. “We are not reliant on massive exclusive titles to drive console adoption. Our players will have thousands of games from four generations of Xbox available to play on launch day.”
Developer 343 Industries took tons of criticism from the Halo community after the release of the Halo Infinite trailer from the Xbox showcase, with many questioning Infinite’s graphics. While we here at Player. One certainly were looking forward to the release of Halo Infinite, we would rather have a game take its time to release instead of being rushed for sales.
Microsoft has assured players that there will be tons of other big game releases alongside the launch of the Xbox Series X such as Cyberpunk 2077, FIFA 21, Marvel's Avengers, and more. Xbox Game Pass will also play a major role for Xbox and PC users, enabling cross-play between platforms and providing a large number of games to play on day one.
“We have plenty to keep you busy until Chief arrives. There will be thousands of games to play, spanning four generations, when Xbox Series X launches globally this November and over 100 optimized for Xbox Series X titles, built to take full advantage of our most powerful console, are planned for this year,” Microsoft’s Will Tuttle stated in an Xbox Wire article.
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will launch on November 10 with a price tag of $499 and $299 respectively.
