343 Industries has launched the biggest content patch for Halo Infinite to date. The Winter Update brings new features to the game, including one that will help players progress through the Battle Pass faster than before.

What is Match XP Beta?

Halo Infinite always has a new Battle Pass every season, and while some people have no trouble completing it in a short time, the same thing cannot be said for those who have other things to do.

To help the vast majority of players progress through the Battle Pass faster, the company introduced a new feature called Match XP Beta. This feature basically gives players additional XP based on their performance in matches. This means that those who are on the winning team and generally play more proactively will receive more points than those on the losing side. Being the MVP of the match also helps.

Although this feature is currently in beta, it’s only in this state because the company intends to refine it and add more adjustments later down the line.

Balancing Changes

Some weapons in Halo Infinite received some adjustments in the Winter Update as well. The Plasma Pistol has been underperforming for a while now, especially when using the weapon’s Overcharged Shot against other Spartans. To make it a more appealing weapon, the company has increased the charge shot angular velocity to 35 degrees per second, and the charge shot guided angular velocity at rest to 70 degrees per second. These changes will help the overcharged shot track better at mid-to-close range. Additionally, the Plasma Pistol’s damage is increased to 28.

The BR75 Battle Rifle has been the go-to for many players and a very versatile weapon since the beginning. So much so that the said rifle has been performing a bit too well than intended. Because of this, 343 Industries raises the skill ceiling when landing the final kill shot by reducing the headshot prioritization angle to 0.2 degrees (from 0.25). This just means that players will have to be more precise with their aim if they want to land headshots.

Here are the other weapon adjustments implemented in the Winter Update.

VK78 Commando Rifle
  • Increased Headshot Prioritization Angle from 0 to 0.1 degrees.
  • Increased Bullet Magnetism Angle from 1.25 to 1.3 degrees.
  • Increased Aim Assist Angle from 5 to 6.25 degrees.
  • Decreased minimum error angle max from 0.8 to 0.6 degrees.
DISRUPTOR
  • Increased magazine ammo count from 10 to 12.
PULSE CARBINE
  • Increased guided angular velocity at rest from 25 to 35 degrees per second.
  • Decreased angular velocity from 50 to 30 degrees per second.
  • Increased targeted leading fraction from 0.35 to 1.
  • Increased guided projectile error radius from 0.2 to 0.22 degrees.
FRAG GRENADE
  • Increased detonation timer by 0.2 seconds.

So, what can you say about Match XP Beta? Do you think that players will still use the BR75 Battle Rifle after the recent adjustments?
