Stealth horror indie game Hello Neighbor’s open alpha has progressed to Alpha 3.
In a blog post, game director Alex Nichiporchik discussed the improvements to the new alpha build. You may now expect the following features and AI improvements:
Advanced AI
Large House
First Glimpse At Surrounding Areas
What to expect of the AI:
Worked on pathfinding, the AI should navigate multiple floors
Widened perception of surroundings. AI reacts to moved objects, opened doors, lights, etc -- depending on his memory of the previous state of said objects
Modified the traps system, it's now real-time. The AI will now place traps also based on environmental changes, not just player behaviors.
Added post-failed attacks analysis. AI will analyze what went wrong & why, and try to prevent it from happening again
AI now sees your flashlight when it's on
AI now throws glue that slows you down, trying to aim based on your run trajectory
You're now slightly faster than the AI
The latest build of Hello Neighbor also includes :
Core game loop alongside a lot of the mechanics
A large 2 story house filled with puzzles and gameplay altering items. Also a pet shark.
The neighbor will anticipate your upcoming actions
You can get into the basement
The more you play, the harder it will get
New art and a big, updated house to explore
Early Alpha Access is still available for purchase on Hello Neighbor's website here for $29.99. Pre-Alpha and Alpha 1 are free, but to support development and get new builds as they come, you’ll need to purchase Early Alpha Access, which lets you play the Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 builds and also provides access to the final release build.
If you prefer to wait, Hello Neighbor is coming in summer 2017. Plans include at least ten hours of gameplay, switching between the house sandbox and story-driven segments that take place somewhere else entirely.
