CBS’ The Good Wife is coming to an end after seven years chronicling the life of Alicia Florrick (Juliana Margulies) after her politician husband (Peter Florrick, portrayed by Chris Noth) is caught having affairs.
"The only thing I can tease is that it will be suspenseful, it will…I think it's going to be very controversial and I do know one thing, which I won't say, but there will be a surprise guest," said Margulies to E! News.
Speaking of surprise guest, rumors have been swirling that Josh Charles will be returning to reprise his role as Will Gardner. The character was shot in the courtroom in a previous season, leaving Alicia devastated.
The final episode, appropriately titled “End,” will not have any time travel -- fans will not see a flash forward of any kind to see where characters end up. "Our show has always been built on the continuity of the moment, that's why a lot of our episodes pick up where the last episode left off,” said Executive Producer Robert King.
“We don’t want to squash those rumors, because why would we?” said King to Variety. “But there are a lot of possibilities for the last episodes.”
As for a spin-off series, co-executive producer Michelle King told Variety that the possibility is there but it’s too soon to tell. “It’s very preliminary,” Michelle King said. “And a little bit early to be talking about it…But there is a possibility.”
The Good Wife airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on CBS. Fans can watch the finale on CBS or watch a livestream through CBS All Access or by connecting to their TV provider. For those who miss the episode when it airs, the series finale will be available on CBS the next day.
