Packed with the latest A10 chip, more RAM, bigger storage and better camera, the new iPhone 7 is a real powerhouse. What's more, the new iPhone also managed to lose a couple grams of weight compared to its predecessor, even though its dimensions are identical. How did Apple manage to pack more punch in a lighter package? Did the new iPhone 7 achieve this by compromising with a tinier battery?
NOPE. Not this time. While Apple managed to improve battery life for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, despite smaller batteries than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, the Cupertino company opted for a significant bump in raw capacity for both the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The battery capacity of the new standard model is 1960 mAh, versus the 1750 mAh of the iPhone 6s. The iPhone 7 Plus gets 2900 mAh, versus 2750 mAh in the iPhone 6s Plus. That said, the battery of the iPhone 7 Plus is still just a little smaller than the 2910 mAh pack in the 2015 iPhone 6 Plus.
Of course, Apple has always developed its iPhone in-house to make sure that its chipset and other components work together with the software optimization in its iOS to make its smartphone a more efficient device. We definitely the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus run slightly longer than the 6s and 6s Plus. Still, it remains to be seen how far battery life has improved with the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. As for the avid iPhone photographers, it's also possible the dual rear-facing camera on the iPhone 7 Plus could demand a bit more juice.
The new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will be available on Sept. 16.
