Madden Ultimate Team is one of the more popular modes in sports gaming. The mode, which spread to other EA Sports’ titles, allows players to build their own superteam based on how well they play and the rewards they receive based on their play.
It was announced this week that the team at Madden is bringing back Madden Ultimate Team Seasons for Madden NFL 17. Similar to a real NFL season, there are three stages of a season: regular season, playoffs and Super Bowl. Each stage has its own win-loss record thresholds that will determine your standings and how fast you can level up in Ultimate Team Seasons. These are the three levels for the stages.
Regular Season: 7-win or 4-loss format
Playoffs: 3-wins before losing once
Super Bowl: 1-win or 1-loss event
The better you play at each stage of your seasons, the better rewards you’ll earn. The rewards increase and get better for every level you move up. A change from past Ultimate Team Seasons is the fact that players will receive a coin reward no matter whether you win or lose your games. In the end, you want to move from Rookie 2nd String to All-Madden 1st String during your Ultimate Team Seasons.
EA also added a new system to this mode as ticket-entry will not be required in Ultimate Team Seasons, but will use a contract system instead. Some players will lose one contract after each game while some “limited-use” players will lose two contracts after a game. There are other additions that were made to this year’s Ultimate Team Seasons such as:
A new H2H Seasons leaderboard which will track your career total of wins, losses, Super Bowl wins, points for/against, and win streak
The Super Bowl game will be played in Houston’s NRG Stadium with full Super Bowl 51 look and feel
On Nov. 30, those players who have played in head-to-head events over the last few weeks will see that mode expire when Ultimate Team Seasons begin. However when head-to-head ends, players will retain all of the rewards that was earned during head-to-head matchups.
