On Wednesday Mark Hamill tweeted that he’d drop a Star Wars: Episode 8 spoiler sanctioned by director Rian Johnson. Twelve hours later, Hamill delivered, tweeting, “As promised ! #Ep8SPOILER Plot:GoodvsEvil-Set in past-In Distant Solar System-Luke's part TWICE as big as in #Ep7 ! :-)” He better be freaking kidding.
Hamill’s so-called spoiler boils down to four basic claims about Star Wars: Episode 8.
Episode VIII will be a conflict of Good vs. Evil.
Episode VIII will take place a long time ago.
In a distant solar system far far away.
Luke’s part is twice as big as in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The first two reveals are obvious.
The third is just a slip of the tongue (a Star Wars movie confined to one solar system would feel very small).
The fourth must be a joke. I mean… right? What would an Episode 8 with double the Luke Skywalker look like? Does that mean we’d get both an intense stare and a smile? Or maybe both an inhale and an exhale? Perhaps he takes off his hood - revealing that luxuriant Jedi mane - then pops the hood right back on.
So, will Luke Skywalker be a super small part of Episode 8, just like in The Force Awakens? Since Hamill telegraphed the truth with both an emoticon and a picture of a joker, let’s assume we’ll be getting a lot more of Luke than this big Episode 8 “spoiler” claims.
