Thor: Love and Thunder is coming to theaters across the US next week. To celebrate this upcoming release, two new Champions are joining Marvel Contest of Champions. Gorr the God Butcher is arriving in-game July 14 while Valkyrie makes her presence felt starting July 28.
In celebration of the movie premiere, all new and current players can log in and add either Thor (Ragnarok) or Thor (Jane Foster) to their rosters from July 8 until August 2.
There's also a special login event from June 29 to July 5, wherein players will get Champion Shards. Plus, a Spectacular Summoner Sale is scheduled from July 1 to July 5.
Against the Gods
As the name implies, Gorr the God-Butcher kills gods. He grew up in a harsh world where gods were believed to protect the people. However, the deadly environment killed his family which made him disillusioned, and swore vengeance against the gods that never came to help him or his people.
Gorr later obtained power through the powerful Necrosword which gave him the ability to control dark magic and shadowy constructs. It is through these powers that he uses to wreak destruction and havoc, and also death to those who call themselves gods.
Girl Power
Valkyrie was once the leader of the Valkyrior and later crowned sovereign of New Asgard. It's not surprising that she was chosen considering she has long been seen as a bastion against the evils of the Nine Realms.
She has superior strength, even when compared with other Asgardians, armed with powerful weapons, and combined with her training and the tactics of the Valkyrior, makes her an excellent warrior. While she may have been scarred by loss, her conviction remains as strong as ever, especially when it comes to protecting the Asgardians of the Battlerealm.
The Final Chapter
While waiting for the Thor-themed content, players can enjoy the latest act. Act 7 has the Superior Kang waiting at the end for the Summoner and their allies. This is a battle of repetition, game knowledge, and skill for every Summoner who steps forward.
