Master of None co-creator and star Aziz Ansari confirmed just over a week ago that the Netflix original has been renewed for another season. Many had hoped that the show would return later this year but Ansari announced Master of None season 2 is slated to air in 2017. Oh well, these things take time, I guess.
Perhaps Aziz and co. are simply taking their time to make things perfect, but maybe the delay is due to some extenuating circumstances. Circumstances like… filming an entire season in another country? Trace William Cowen of Complex did some fine detective work in noticing the amount of pictures Aziz has shared on Instagram lately. Where are all of these pictures from? Italy. Why does that matter? Well, if you haven’t watched the show yet, you should probably do that now. If you have, we’ll get into that in a second. But first, delicious Italian food:
The caption for the first photo reads, “Living in Italy for a while so abandon my gram if you don't like photos of delicious food. This was in Modena. Prosciutto with pumpkin, insane. (Questo panino era molto buono. Con zucca e prosciutto.)” He clearly states that he’s not just visiting, but living in Italy for an extended period. Why would the busy New York City-based comedian do this?
Recall that during the finale of Master of None season 1, Dev opted to take a huge risk and move to Italy to attend pasta-making school after his relationship with Rachel suddenly collapsed. Given these events and Aziz’s current location in real life, could this mean that Master of None will pick back up in Europe? Will it be for a few episodes or the entire season? Personally, I was thinking that the show would return to New York, but who knows at this point?
Perhaps more information will be uncovered soon, but until then, sit tight. Master of None season 2 premieres *sometime* in 2017.
