The Medium is coming to the PlayStation 5 on September 3. The game is offered to the current-gen console in both digital and physical editions. Besides the expected better graphics and performance, the game will also feature full DualSense controller support.
About The Medium
The Medium is a third-person psychological horror game featuring dual-reality gameplay. Players step in the shoes of Marianne, who has exceptional psychic abilities. Players will traverse between reality and the spirit world to uncover a secret.
The Medium was initially released on Xbox Series X/S and PC on January 28, 2021. The game is quite different from most horror games as it shows two distinct playable environments at the same time, both of which are being controlled by the player.
The Medium was received positively on certain platforms like Gamereactor (9/10), Gamespot (9/10, and PC Gamer (92/100). Though above-average on others including 75% from Metacritic and 6/10 from Destructoid.
However, things may change when the game launches on PS5 with the DualSense controller support. Having such support may offer a unique experience to gamers when they touch or use in-game features.
Delayed Release
According to a post, The Medium was conceived in 2012 and was set to release on Xbox 360 and PS3. However, due to the game's high computing demands as it renders two worlds simultaneously, it was delayed till 2021 launching after two console generations.
Special Launch Edition
The game is available on Steam and Epic Games Store but if you're in no mood to shell out $50, you can always play it via Xbox Game Pass on both Xbox and PC.
The game is set to receive the Two Worlds Special Launch Edition, which comes with an exclusive steelbook, game soundtrack, and a 32-pages hardcover artbook. This edition will only be made available in select territories.
