The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection has officially released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This collection offers players all four games in the Mega Man Zero series. Not only that, it also packs in Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent for the first time from the handheld platforms all the way to full-sized screens. The collection is available for $29.99.
As mentioned, the collection has six titles from the Mega Man franchise. There’s the four-part saga of the legendary Reploid, Zero, which is set hundreds of years after the events of the Mega Man X series. In addition, both Mega Man ZX and ZX Advent now let players take on the role of either a male or female hero, a first for the series.
The Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection comes with the challenging boss battles the franchise is known for along with precise combat and fast-paced platforming. For those new to the series and find it a bit difficult, the Zero and ZX series offer a Casual Scenario mode as an option. With this, new players can take on different challenges with less difficulty. There' also a new feature with the Save-Assist system. This helps players create save points mid-mission, resulting in a more approachable experience.
There's also something for long time fans of the series as they can choose to play with the original sprite art. For a newer experience, there's always the choice to try the optional HD-smoothing filters. There are also a number of screen layouts that players can choose that display the dual-screen controls of the original releases.
There's still more. For those who manage to master all six games, they can then give the brand-new Z Chaser mode a chance. In this mode, players compete to see who can finish the stages in each game of the collection in the fastest time. Players test their skills solo and race against ghost data gathered from the top performers on the game's global leaderboard. Local multiplayer is available for those who want to go head-to-head against their friends.
It's not all games, as players and fans can take a nostalgic trip through the in-game gallery, which features more than 650 pieces of original production art. They can even listen to music from the original series along with new arrangements.
