New information on the first Destiny 2 expansion emerged on Friday, thanks to a new page on the Microsoft Store. It’s not clear whether or not this information was supposed to be public yet. But we did get confirmation of several details leaked to the games press prior to the Destiny 2 release date.
Earlier this month, Kotaku’s Jason Schreier claimed to have a handful of details about Bungie’s first Destiny 2 expansion. Schreier claimed the DLC would introduce a brand new patrol zone, Mercury, and bring back the Lighthouse that was only accessible via a perfect Trials of Osiris performance in Destiny 1. He also said the expansion’s narrative content would center on Osiris, a powerful Warlock we heard about (but never saw) in Bungie’s first shared-world shooter. The studio didn’t comment on the leaks. But a listing for Curse of Osiris on the Microsoft Store kills any lingering doubt about the veracity of Schreier’s reporting. Not that we had much in the first place.
Here’s the official description, via Microsoft:
Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris continues your Guardian’s journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mercury. Journey through time and space to learn the secrets of Osiris, avert a dark future, and rebuild the ties between the legendary Warlock and his greatest student - Ikora Rey.
Features:
- Explore Mercury and its mysterious "Infinite Forest"
- New story missions and adventures
- New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn
- New cooperative activities
- New competitive multiplayer arenas
- And more...
Destiny fans have multiple options for acquiring Curse of Osiris. The first Destiny 2 expansion can be purchased individually, for $19.99, if you aren’t sure you’ll stick with the game long enough to enjoy a second wave of post-launch content. Those who know they’re in for the long haul can also buy the Destiny 2 Expansion Pass, for $34.99, and save five dollars on the game’s first two DLCs.
Destiny 2 is currently available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game hits PC on Oct. 24.
