Mojang has finally switched up to a universal launcher for Minecraft: Dungeons and Minecraft: Java Edition, so now you can fire up both games with one launcher instead of looking all over the place. This update is free for everyone who accesses the game with Mojang and Microsoft Accounts.
To install this update, just launch your game and towards the bottom, you will notice a banner that should direct you to the link to install the latest unified launcher. As of now, the unified launcher is an optional process, which makes it easier for players to access their content. But the developer team plans on making it a central hub for other Minecraft games. If you want to play Minecraft Dungeons, however, you will have to update the game.
How to Switch Between Accounts?
Go to your unified launcher and click on your profile, which can be found on the top left corner of the screen. Then, select your Mojang or Microsoft account depending on the game you want to launch. Your Mojang account and Microsoft account for Minecraft Dungeons can be linked to this new launcher. Once linked, you can now switch between profiles.
What Happens to Save Files?
No need to worry about any issue with save files as the launcher will directly read the previously installed locations. For example, when you open your Minecraft Dungeons save file, you will continue where you left off as if nothing happened.
If you plan on uninstalling the launcher, do not click the “Remove Save Files” checkbox, as it will delete all your progress permanently. Here’s a full guide on how to properly back up your save files.
