Monster Hunter: World will get a relatively small Day One patch, featuring localization content and some last-minute bug fixes, Capcom announced on Monday. There’s also a little bonus for gamers willing to befriend a small, sweater-wearing pig who lives in World’s hub city, Astera.
The Day One patch will weigh in at less than gigabyte, but it’s surprisingly feature-rich. Monster Hunter’s first update unlocks the game’s online features -- an increasingly common means of preventing players from using unauthorized early copies -- and adds a tool to import player data from World’s three beta tests. The patch also serves as a localization update, of sorts, making English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish standard display language options in every region. Most regions have at least one additional text option; however, there aren’t any additional voice options. Here are the other text languages available in MHW, per Capcom:
Japan: No additional languages
Asian version: Traditional Chinese / Korean
North American version: Brazilian Portuguese
European version: Brazilian Portuguese / Polish / Russian / Arabic
The new patch also includes content related to a small pig, Poogie, players will encounter during the campaign. It’s not clear how much content is tied to the creature but the patch notes confirm players will receive rewards for petting Poogie and carrying the pig to certain locations. Monster Hunter: World’s Day One patch also fixes several bugs and other issues that weren’t addressed before the game was pressed to disc. But Capcom didn’t provide specifics on the problems fixed by the update. The patch notes only confirm solutions were delivered.
