Publisher and developer Triternion has confirmed console versions for its hit multiplayer medieval action game Mordhau, coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One at a still unannounced date. The game was first released on PC via Steam on April 19, 2019, following a very successful Kickstarter campaign in 2017. To celebrate the game officially heading to consoles, Triternion released a new trailer which you can check out below.
The trailer is not very long, and nothing was shown about the new console release. However, it seems that the game runs at a very stable frame rate with very clean graphics, which should please those looking to play Mordhau on their PlayStation or Xbox for the very first time.
Mordhau was first closely associated with the cult classic Chivalry when it was first released, as both games are medieval first-person or third-person hack-and-slash titles with large-scale multiplayer combat. Over time, it grew into its own thing thanks to various modes and a loyal player base on PC. Mordhau features a wide variety of medieval weapons that are mostly era-accurate with their actual deadly counterparts, making the game heaven for fans of medieval combat and warfare.
The game allows up to 64 player engagements in several various modes, including player favorites Frontline and Invasion. It also has a single-player mode, in which a solo player will fight against AI opponents. There’s also the always-fun cooperative Horde mode which tasks you and a group of friends to challenge waves of enemies as you try your hardest to survive.
What really makes Mordhau special is its combat, as it allows for a variety of free-flowing attacks based on how you move your mouse on PC; it will be interesting to see how this will be translated to controllers on consoles. Players can wield and utilize several unique medieval weapons, including swords, daggers, hammers, falchions, mallets, cleavers, axes, scimitars, spears, maces, staves, polearms, billhooks, battle axes, throwing knives, javelins, bows, crossbows, shields, targes, and bucklers. As it is era-accurate, weapons mostly wielded by peasants, like sickles, shovels, pitchforks, rakes, clubs, frying pans, and even lutes, are also in the game.
Mordhau is currently available on PC via Steam.
