Spring 2016 is expected to be a time of change for Weekly Shonen Jump. The upcoming Boruto manga from writer Ukyo Kodachi and artist Mikio Ikemoto continues the story of the ninja of Konoha and the rest of the ninja world.
Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto will remain on the creative team as a supervisor to the story. However, the esteemed creator will pen one last story set in the post-Boruto Movie world in a special one-shot. The latest Weekly Shonen Jump has more details about Kishimoto’s story.
According to the March 28 issue of Shonen Jump, Kishimoto’s Naruto one-shot will be titled “The Path Lit by the Full Moon” and will feature Mitsuki one of the newest generation of ninja.
The magazine reveals the story will feature Mitsuki and Orochimaru, and that readers will find out the “secret origin of Mitsuki.” We already know that Mitsuki is the son of Orochimaru, but how that works with the creepy former antagonist is yet unclear.
The special one-shot penned by Kishimoto will be released in the April 25 issue of Shonen Jump and the start of the Boruto manga will debut in the May 9 issue. Unlike Naruto, Boruto will be a monthly and drawn by the aforementioned Ikemoto, who worked as an assistant under Kishimoto.
Not much is known about the Boruto manga except that it will focus on Naruto and Hinata’s son and the rest of the next generation of ninja including Sarada (the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura) and Mitsuki.
