Good news basketball fans! We finally get to know who are the cover athletes of NBA 2K22 . The Standard Edition and Cross-Gen Digital Bundle feature Luka Dončić of the Dallas Mavericks. While the NBA 75th Anniversary Edition features Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kevin Durant.
Talking about being on the cover, Dončić said in a statement that this is truly special for him. He is indeed happy to be on a special cover whose colors also honor the Slovenian flag. Dončić went on to say that basketball has given him so much and he is excited to be able to give back.
Regardless of what edition you buy, they’re all going to be released on September 10 this year. There are a lot of new features to expect in NBA 2K22 like player AI and excellent visual presentation.
Different Editions
The three editions of NBA 2K22 are going to be available in both physical and digital formats. These are:
- Standard Edition
- Available for $59.99 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One consoles, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
- Available for $69.99 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- Cross-Gen Digital Bundle
- Available for $79.99.
- Give players access to the Standard Edition across previous- and new-gen within the same PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
- NBA 2K22 NBA 75th Anniversary Edition
- Available for $99.99 for all platforms
Artwork
The cover artwork for both the Cross-Gen Digital Bundle and NBA 75th Anniversary Edition will feature Charly Palmer. Based in Atlanta, Palmer’s art is known for its complex compositions along with its unique technique and style. His work has been featured on the cover of Time Magazine back in July 2020.
NBA 2K Vice-President Alfie Brody shared that when it comes to the game, the cover has always been a way to tell a story. He added that the culture surrounding basketball is vibrant and transcends. And by getting Charly to work on the art, it highlights the global diversity of the game.
Special Promotion
Players in North America have the choice to buy a special version of the Standard Edition. This one features Candace Parker of the Chicago Sky on the cover. She is actually the first woman to be on an NBA 2K cover.
