'Diablo 4' Season 8 Nightmare: Battle Pass Bug Spoils 'Belial's Return' as Players Complain

Blizzard is now investigating and finding a fix for this game-breaking bug.

Blizzard's recent update for "Diablo 4" Season 8: Belial's Return has officially launched, but rather than praise, it's receiving fiery backlash from the community. The reason? A glitched Battle Pass system called Reliquaries has already deducted in-game currency without providing the rewards promised.

Reliquary Glitch in 'Diablo 4': Platinum Deducted, Nothing Unlocked

Players swarming to test the new Reliquary system were stunned when their Platinum was taken, but they received no rewards. As first seen on Reddit, gamers attempting to unlock the Deluxe Battle Pass discovered that although the game indicated that it was live, all material remained locked. For a system that is intended to replace the classic Battle Pass, the rollout has been chaotic.

Posts are piling up on Reddit and the official Blizzard forums. One agitated player explained that his 1000 Platinum is nowhere to be found, but everything remains unlocked. He blamed Blizzard for stealing 10 bucks' worth of material.

Blizzard Acts on Battle Pass Bug Reports

Blizzard did not remain silent for long. On their official forums, one of their community managers wrote:

"Hey folks thanks a ton for sharing. We're investigating this issue with Reliquaries not showing/functioning properly at this time. Apologies for the inconvenience, we'll keep you all informed asap on any updates."

However, the statement has not calmed the backlash. With cosmetics not showing, passes still locked, and Platinum vanishing, players are encouraging others not to buy anything Reliquary-related until a patch comes.

Reliquaries Replacing Battle Pass System And Creating Confusion

One of the most debatable updates this season is the shift from Battle Passes to Reliquaries. Rather than the classic setup, Blizzard launched Reliquaries as a method of collecting and unlocking rewards. The catch? It seems players with unused Battle Passes from earlier seasons can no longer activate them through the new system.

As an example, Windows Central reported that players who purchased the Ultimate Edition of "Diablo 4: Vessel of Hatred" were entitled to a redeemable Battle Pass. Some kept them for a future season, but now they are entirely inaccessible under the Reliquary setup.

Missing Cosmetics and Unavailable Content

To add insult to injury, some players are finding that cosmetics bought last season are now unavailable in their character closets. It's not clear if this has anything to do with the Reliquary bug or some other backend glitch, but the effect is the same: growing frustration.

As it is, the best advice for "Diablo 4" players is not to buy the Reliquary Battle Pass until Blizzard assures that there will be a fix for the bug.
