Heroes may be a staple in comic books but it looks like they’re joining a different kind of universe. NBA 2K21 is launching the Age of Heroes with MyTeam Season 5. It introduces new players, new challenges, and of course, new rewards. Season 5 is also launching two new collections that offer hero versions of players from the Golden Age and Modern Age.
Hero-themed Cards
Season 5 is bringing to the game 15 players from each age. Players belonging to the NBA’s Golden Age include Shaquille O’Neal and Manu Ginobili. Modern Age, meanwhile, includes the likes of Mitchell Robinson and Luka Doncic.
Signature Challenge
While a lot of fans continue to argue who’s really the GOAT, there’s no question that Michael Jordan is at the top of the list. After all, he had six rings spread out on two three-peats. For this season’s challenge, players have the chance to experience what it’s like to be in the shoes of his Airness.
Titled as “The Last Shot,” players get to play through one of MJ’s iconic moments. In particular, it’s the game-winning shot that Jordan made against the Jazz to get their second three-peat and sixth championship. This was also the game where he made 45 points.
Players who can finish this challenge earn the Diamond Jordan shoe and Hall of Fame badge. For those who don’t have the Michael Jordan card, they can redeem this locker code to get the MJ MyTeam card Jordan-Last Shot for free.
Season 5 Changes
Here are the other changes arriving in the game with Season 5:
- Players can swap out duplicates and other unwanted cards in their collection to pick up Amethyst Larry Bird, Diamond Khris Middleton, and the first Galaxy Opal in The Exchange, Lou Hudson.
- PS5 players get an exclusive Challenge Activity.
- They can choose their best lineup and take on the 2000 Raptors.
- The goal is to get 10 dunks versus Vince Carter and T-Mac.
- The more dunks made, the higher the ranking on the leaderboard.
- Limited continues to have the four-minute quarter lengths from Season 4.
- New lineup restrictions include rules based on Lineup OVR (Overall Rating).
- Get more Galaxy Opal rewards.
- Triple Threat has expanded to 1,000 wins with Galaxy Opal Peja Stojakovic at the new high mark.
- Galaxy Opal Don Ohl has been added to The Vault.
- Triple Threat Online receives its first Galaxy Opal with Fred Brown.

- No more Amethyst shakes.
- For the rest of the year, only Diamond and higher-rated players trigger a player walkout.
- The Reward Market offers new Token Reward players like Galaxy Opal Moses Malone, Diamond Devin Booker, and Amethyst Dejounte Murray.

MyTeam Unlimited Tournament
Season 5 is also when the grand finals of the MyTEAM Unlimited Tournament take place. The tournament is on March 6 with the winner taking home $200,000 and the runner-up getting $50,000. The event will livestream on the NBA2K Twitch channel.
