"World War Z," the action-packed third-person co-op zombie shooter, just released a huge April 2025 patch designed to improve gameplay, address bugs, and maintain non-stop action.
Launched in 2019, the game has developed a dedicated following due to its cinematic horde gameplay and cooperative combat. Saber Interactive is now continuing the undead fun with this new update.
Extinction Mode Reworked With New Challenges and Episodes
The biggest draw of the April 2025 "World War Z" update is the complete revamp of Extinction Mode. In this mode, players can unlock it by surviving any map at an Insane or higher difficulty level.
After that, two brand new Episodes get unlocked, which have different goals and rewards each. These weekly rotating episodes present players with fresh content and also the opportunity to earn new gun skin rewards every week.
New Mutators and Portrait Frames Add Some Spice
To add some more spice to gameplay, the patch brings seven all-new mutators, which are:
- Acid Spit
- Doppelganger
- Hot Stuff
- Cluster Shells
- Fire-resistant
- Effective Defense
- Overprice
Also, three classic mutators—Epilogue, Sell-out, and Taxes—have been redesigned to add a new spin to gameplay strategies. Players can also personalize their profiles with four new portrait frames: Red Light, Memento Mori, To the Top, and Virologist.
Community Challenges Provide Limited-Time Rewards
For its grinding enthusiasts who enjoy competing with others, "World War Z: Aftermath" Community Challenges have returned stronger than ever. With these time-limited challenges, players earn very valuable rewards when they co-op together.
Finish them for the super valuable Royal Vengeance Heavy Weapons Skin Pack with its skins of MAG5, BF25, and Taiga-12.
The players who overcome the new Extinction Mode will be rewarded with the Knight Heavy Weapons Skin Pack, which includes the MGL Hailstorm, RPGL4, and once more the Taiga-12—so it is a valuable treasure for heavy artillery fans.
