Since the game's introduction in 2021, "Palworld" has been branded as "Pokémon with guns," but its team does not want that for the game. In a recent revelation, the team over at PocketPair Inc. is not too happy about "Palworld" being called that way, particularly as the game is more than that generalization.

That being said, PocketPair is now inviting gamers to try out the game before labeling it "Pokémon with guns," following their recent copyright infringement fiasco with Nintendo and The Pokémon Company.

'Palworld' Doesn't Want 'Pokémon With Guns' Branding

Many gamers and people online have been referring to "Palworld" as "Pokémon with guns," and according to the latest report by GameRant, the team behind tha game does not like it one bit.

There are several similarities between "Palworld" and "Pokémon," especially as they offer an experience that focuses on the co-existence of humans and creatures. The creatures in both games also share some similarities.

That being said, PocketPair's communications director claimed that the team behind it does not want "Palworld" to be branded or labeled as "Pokémon with guns."

The executive, John Buckley, opened up about the topic during the Game Developers Conference last March, saying that despite receiving positive response, the industry was quick to brand it as that.

That being said, Buckley revealed that PocketPair has worked towards "shaking off" the label on "Palworld," but this stuck over the years.

PocketPair Invites People to Try Out 'Palworld'

Instead of plainly discouraging the public from labeling the game "Pokémon with guns," Buckley has invited gamers to try out the game before reducing it down to that branding and see how the experience differs.

While Buckley claimed that PocketPair and the entire "Palworld" team were not happy with the label, he admitted that it still gave their title significant popularity in the industry.

It was later revealed by Buckley that the real inspiration behind "Palworld" is the action-adventure survival franchise "ARK" from Studio Wildcard and not Nintendo and The Pokémon Company's "Pokémon."

Moreover, it was revealed by the communications director that PocketPair was impressed with how "ARK" emphasized on dinosaurs and this is something which they wanted to replicate but with their special touch.

Despite looking like "Pokémon," PocketPair's design for the creatures centered on offering "more personality, more abilities, more uniqueness" to their traits.

Players may try out "Palworld" via multiple platforms, including the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S and X, with a potential Switch 2 version coming, according to rumors.
