The Monster Hunter: World marketing team’s busy week continued on Thursday with a new trailer featuring members of the Monster Hunter community. The new clip doesn’t include as much gameplay as Capcom’s last two trailers, which took players to the Rotten Vale and Coral Highlands, but it does provide a sneak peek at the World ’s Nergigante encounter.
The new creature trailer was recorded during a recent community event, hosted at the Monster Hunter Meat Shack pop-up restaurant in London. Nergigante will be one of the toughest fights in Monster Hunter: World. The massive dragon is incredibly powerful; one player interviewed for the video confirmed Nergigante can take out well-equipped hunters with a single strike, even when your health is nearly full. The footage also confirms the wyvern moves much faster than most creatures its size and will have a plethora of attacks to unleash on your crew.
Monster Hunter fans will get their first crack at Nergigante this weekend, as part of the game’s next PS4 beta, but players will be subject to a strict 15-minute time limit. That probably won’t be enough time for most to finish the encounter. But it’s enough to get a taste of the action before MHW hits consoles next weekend. We’re sure there will still be a handful of groups, most likely longtime Monster Hunter players, who manage to defeat Nergigante in the allotted time.
For an early look at Monster Hunter: World, and the tough-as-nails Nergigante encounter we can all look forward to failing a few times, check out the game’s latest trailer. Then head down to the comments and let us know what you’re most excited to hunt when Monster Hunter: World hits consoles later this month.
Monster Hunter: World is in development for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game’s final PS4 beta begins Friday, Jan. 19, and MHW hits consoles on Jan. 26. A PC port debuts this fall.
