Square Enix officially unveiled the launch trailer for the upcoming action-RPG Final Fantasy Final Fantasy XVI. This newest standalone entry in the Final Fantasy series is coming to PlayStation 5 worldwide on June 22.
The new trailer is titled "Salvation" and sets the stage for what players can look forward to when they arrive in Valisthea. We get to see the harsh situation faced by the Bearers, individuals born with the ability to cast magicks at will. The trailer also shows the truth behind the Mothercrystals, beings that were said to have bestowed blessings upon humanity. We get a peek at the protagonist as well, who is Clive Rosfield.

Final Fantasy XVI takes players to Valisthea, a land blessed in the light of the Mothercrystals. The long-standing peace has started to falter with the spread of the Blight.
The fate of the land is now at the hands of the Eikons, mighty summoned beasts and their Dominants, men and women blessed with the ability to call upon and wield them. The story focuses on Clive Rosfield, a warrior who's been given the "First Shield of Rosaria" and has sworn to protect his younger brother Joshua, the Dominant of the Phoenix, Eikon of Fire. It isn't long before Clive gets caught up in a great tragedy and vows revenge on the Dark Eikon known as Ifrit, a mysterious entity that brings calamity in its wake.
