A while back, Year 9 Season 1 of Rainbow Six Siege went live. With it, we also saw the launch of Operation Deadly Omen. This week, the seasonal event titled "Containment" is now playable. It's going to run from March 27 to April 17.
Containment is inspired by the Archaean invasion in Rainbow Six Extraction. It has attackers take on the role of Team REACT and puts them in special biohazard gear. They'll take on the defenders, who take on the role of Proteans. They've been transformed into monstrous mutants and now have to defend the nest. By the way this special event game is set at nighttime on the old Consulate map.
While the REACT attackers retain their usual loadouts and abilities, the Protean defenders won't have any weapons. However, the defenders have increased speed and melee attacks which can strike down attackers. In addition, the defenders can also burst through walls using a version of Oryx's Remah Dash.
The main objective of the REACT Team is to destroy the nest. However, they'll need to take out two objectives before the nest becomes vulnerable. Defenders meanwhile need to protect the nest until time runs out. It goes without saying that either side can win by completely eliminating the other.
During this new seasonal event, players can get unique cosmetic looks through the Containment Collection Packs. Those who log in to the game can immediately get one free pack. Other packs can be purchased using Renown or R6 Credits. Packs can also be earned by completing weekly challenges.
New Protean cosmetics meanwhile are available for Bandit and Mozzie. At the same time, new REACT bundles have been added for Hibana and Zofia. In addition, Sens and Ram are now playable as Attackers, but they won't have REACT cosmetics. All of the Operator cosmetics from the previous run of the Containment event are also available again.
