Stardew Valley is getting new single-player content, despite previous suggestions solo content would no longer be a focus for the game’s lone developer, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone. We don’t know much about the additions just yet. But the Stardew Valley creator says the new single-player content will debut alongside the multiplayer update announced earlier this year.

The news comes via Barone’s Twitter account, but he stopped short of offering any specifics. But the announcement did include a heavily-cropped screenshot that may offer some idea of what to expect. The image features a purple, star-covered boat that appears to be docked at the beach. The paint job has some fans wondering if the Wizard will play a bigger role in the new solo content. The presence of a boat also suggests players could travel to a new map, maybe even an island, or that the game’s popular fishing minigame could see a major expansion.

Unfortunately, there’s still no timeline for Stardew Valley ’s multiplayer update. Barone confirmed work was underway on a cooperative expansion last May and we’ve since been treated to a handful of previews of that patch. We were hoping for a surprise release at the end of 2017, since it would provide an opportunity to play with friends during the upcoming holidays, but it looks like we’re still waiting until 2018 to play Stardew Valley with the rest of the community. On the plus side, the game’s multiplayer functionality will probably hit all platforms simultaneously. So at least there won’t be segments of the gaming audience forced to wait more than a year and a half to get their hands on Stardew Valley for the first time. We’re looking at you, Switch owners.

Stardew Valley is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.
