We're going out of this world for today's New on Steam feature as we shine the spotlight on a space-themed game!
But before we go any further, allow us to first explain what New on Steam is to our new readers. New on Steam is a series that tells you all you need to know about the newly available games on Steam.
Today's feature has been on Steam for some time now as an early access release, but it is now available as a full-game release on the platform.
What's new on Steam? It's none other than Nova Drift.
New on Steam: Nova Drift
Nova Drift was released on August 12, 2024. It is a space-themed action roguelike game developed by Chimeric and published by Pixeljam.
In this game, you get to control an endlessly evolving bio-mechanical ship that you must use to defeat enemies along the way. There is a lot of build-crafting and deep customization involved in this game, which will be enjoyable to those who like to work on builds.
Your build will depend on how you want to play your game. You can further boost your build by using different "super mods," such as the Warp Strike and Charged Mines.
System Requirements
The following are the minimum system requirements for anyone who wants to play the game on Windows:
- OS: Windows 7 or higher
- Processor: 2 Ghz CPU
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4000 or equivalent, Integrated cards also work
- Storage: 800 MB available space
It should be noted, however, that beginning the start of the year, Steam Client has only supported Windows 10 as well as latter versions.
The following minimum requirements are needed for those who wish to play on macOS:
- OS: 10.10 or higher
- Processor: 2 Ghz CPU
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- Storage: 500 MB available space
Early Steam Reviews
Nova Drift has, as of press time, "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam.
"I'm incredibly impressed by the polish on this game," user Cloel said in a Steam review. "At first glance, it just seems like a silly little Asteroids clone, but no—the mechanics here run deep, and every decision seems thoughtful and deliberate."
"Excellent work," Cloel said in closing.
"A nice little game to boot up and watch the pretty colors," user Himolainy said in a separate review. "Easy to pick up and put down with a surprising depth of mechanics."
