We just got our first look at the Lego Batman Movie a few days ago, and we’ve already got another one. Warner Brothers Pictures, creators of The Lego Movie , are giving us a goofy Batman movie with less “grim dark” and more fun. The newest trailer just came out on the Lego YouTube page and shows Will Arnett as Batman throwing a bit of a fit. Alfred, played by Ralph Fiennes, worries about Batman going through one of his stages, and then lists every year a Batman movie came out and mentions “the weird one in ‘66.”
In the newest trailer, we get a brief look at the Justice League with Flash, Green Lantern, Superman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Speedy (I think) and Green Lantern. We also get a brief shot of Batman’s Rogue Gallery which includes from left to right: Penguin, Riddler, Catwoman, Clayface, Bane, Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Captain Cold, Two-face and Scarecrow. Batman’s most terrifying villains look cute as mini figures. The trailer ends with a modern-day cover of the classic Batman ‘66 theme song, which I may be more excited about than the actual movie.
Goofy Batman is my favorite Batman. I like the caped crusader when he’s trading quips, not standing in the corner brooding over another bloody corpse. Batman: Brave and the Bold was the best show to ever exist, combing the camp of Batman ’66 with some of the modern DC Universe. If that movie is anything like that show, which it’s looking like it is, I could not be more excited. My favorite Joker is Cesar Romero; I like the painted moustache even more than Heath Ledger.
