Several minutes of new NieR: Automata gameplay were shown to Taipei Game Show attendees over the weekend, revealing two portions of the game’s map that haven’t appeared in previous videos and/or last month’s NieR: Automata demo. Square Enix also published a handful of new NieR: Automata screenshots to make this Monday morning just a little more palatable for 2B fans around the globe.
More than 10 minutes of new NieR: Automata footage (h/t Gematsu) debuted at the 2017 Taipei Game Show, giving attendees and live stream viewers a chance to see a surprising amount of new content. The footage was part of a longer presentation, featuring NieR: Automata producer Yosuke Saito and voice actress Yui Ishikawa, which traded the usual action-oriented gameplay in favor of exploring some new corners of the map.
Two new areas were shown during the NieR: Automata demonstration, including a dilapidated amusement park that should be fun to poke around when the game hits PC and PlayStation 4. We also got an early look at a rundown department store -- because no modern city is complete without an abandoned mall -- and an impressive look at the city from atop a tower.
For a closer look at NieR: Automata, take a few minutes to review the new gameplay footage shown during the 2017 Taipei Game Show. Gameplay begins around the 10:00 mark but we don’t get to the new areas until roughly 18:30. Once you’ve had a chance to review the new footage, head down to the comments section and let us know if you’re planning to purchase NieR: Automata when the game debuts later this year.
NieR: Automata is in development for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game debuts March 7, 2017.
