Later this month, Nintendo Switch Online will release five new titles. Once these new games arrive on May 26, it’s going to give this service a new milestone: more than 100 classic titles available for members. Of the five new games, four are from Super NES and one from NES.
Priced at $3.99 per month, the Nintendo Switch Online service gives members access to a wide range of Super NES and NES games. This same service also allows members to connect and play compatible games online with family and friends. These include games like Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and Pokémon Sword & Shield.
Recently, the service gave members a chance to join the fight in Pac-Man 99. Unlike previous versions, this one has a battle royale format where players fight with 98 others to see who becomes the last Pac-Man standing. There’s no question that Pac-Man 99 can offer just enough nostalgia with some more modern twists.
So what are these upcoming games?
Let’s start with Ninja JaJaMaru-kun, released on NES back in 1985. The game has players take on the role of a ninja to rescue Princess Sakura. As a ninja, players can use their throwing stars to take out monsters and get power-ups that can help turn the tide of battle.
Super NES Titles
The first of the four Super NES titles is Caveman Ninja, which is also known as Joe & Mac. Released in 1991, the game focuses on Joe and Mac. The two are pretty much enjoying their life when suddenly Neanderthals crashed their village. The duo can leap, jump, dash, and even make use of roll attacks.
Up next is the puzzle game Magical Drop2, launched in 1996. It’s pretty much a match-three game where players need to catch and throw the drops that descend from the top. There are four different modes like the story mode where players can choose from 10 different characters.
The third game is Super Baseball Simulator 1.000. It may initially appear to be a baseball game but it’s more than that. There are a lot of Ultra Plays to choose from and take advantage of. The Meteor Hit. for example. knocks out fielders who make contact with the ball. Then, there’s the Phantom Ball that seems to vanish mid-pitch. Choose from 18 baseball teams to play or even create your own.
Finally, there’s Spanky’s Quest. The game focuses on Spanky who is on the way to a picnic when the witch Morticia suddenly starts dropping bricks. Now he needs to clear towers before the witch’s pet crow catches him.
