Persona 5 trophies have leaked courtesy of PlayStation Trophies, and they offer a sneak peek at some story SPOILERS for the upcoming game. We won’t post the full list here, but we will discuss some of the highlights of a journey towards a very difficult platinum.
To start with, Persona 5 features an assortment of 39 known trophies that includes one platinum, two gold, four silver and 32 bronze. Just like with its main predecessor, Persona 4 Golden, Atlus is clearly going to make players work for those upper-level tiers. Silvers require hearing the full roster of Futaba’s 250 navigation lines, registering 100 percent of the title’s Personas, clearing all missions and defeating a key boss called the Reaper.
Golds are appropriately even rarer. They mandate maxing out all cooperation attacks and clearing every single video game that sporadically appears during the social campaign moments.
The bronze rewards are pretty standard fare not just for Persona games, but also other JRPGs as well. Some of them seem likely to pop once certain points in the story have been reached or after hitting attack or Persona fusion milestones. Tasks like performing 50 All-Out attacks or exploiting enemy weaknesses 100 times aren’t necessarily challenging, but they’ll occupy time during what already appears to be a pretty lengthy experience.
Taking a more granular look at the bronze list, however, there are quite a few trophies that offer hints to some of the game’s story elements and themes. For example, players are rewarded for carrying out hangings, electric chair executions and using solitary confinement. There are also signs that the plot will include hostage situations and shootings that could very well be carried out by the protagonist and his Phantom Thieves. In other words, despite the title’s bright art style, there’s clearly some darker ideas lurking behind the curtain.
Even though we have some spoilers today, it’s also worth pointing out that there are still 11 hidden trophies that have yet to be described. These likely feature major plot or gameplay elements and will be uncovered as Japanese audiences progress through the story. Atlus has already said that its social media accounts won’t showcase spoiler moments such as those.
Persona 5 releases outside Japan on Feb. 14.
