Sony may not join major gaming events like E3 or Gamescom anymore. However, they do hold their own online press conference, a lot of them actually. If the recent rumor is to be believed, then a new State of Play is just around the corner.
The Rumor
According to James Jarvis of Future Studios, Sony will hold its latest online gaming event on August 19. His tweet further claimed that the official announcement would have taken place yesterday, but obviously, that didn’t happen.
For the last couple of times, the announcement of State of Play comes just two days before the event. So, with my miscalculation, I expected that the announcement would be on August 17. But don’t take my word for it. This is just an educated guess.
Games You Can Expect
Jarvis also mentioned some of the games that will be present at the event. The new gameplay of the highly anticipated sequel, Horizon Forbidden West, will be shown, and the previously rumored delay will be confirmed as well. There will be an extended look for the Pixar-like indie title Kena: Bridge of Spirits. You can also expect an update on Gran Turismo 7 and a surprise announcement of a new game.
Call of Duty Vanguard Rumor
There is also a rumor on the internet that claims the highly speculated Call of Duty Vanguard will be officially revealed on August 19. That is one heck of a coincidence if you ask me. The game might be revealed at the upcoming event as Activision Blizzard has special deals with Sony anyway. I guess only time will tell. Check out our previous article for more information.
Rumors about the State of Play in August have been on the internet since E3 2021. The only thing people didn’t know was the actual date. Well, now we have it. However, do keep in mind that all of this is just unofficial rumors and leaks for now. There is no actual announcement yet. So take this with a grain of salt.
