The spooky Legendary Pokémon Giratina is back and you can find it in Pokémon Go raids. And whether it will be its Altered Forme or Origin Forme, you will want to know some counters. So, let’s get started!
When fighting Giratina in its Origin Forme, keep in mind that it becomes the strongest DPS ghost-type Pokémon in the game despite the release of 5th gen Pokémon. As for the Altered Forme, it is really just good for PvP, but you will want to have it in your Pokédex. Mind you – you might just be lucky enough to encounter a Shiny Giratina.
It is worth noting that both of the aforementioned forms are ghost- and dragon-types. In other words, you can take advantage of a good number of weaknesses. However, if you are going to use ghost- and dragon-type Pokémon against Giratina, it is best to know when to dodge and hit hard. Ice-, dark-, and fairy-type moves can be a huge help.
Below are some good counters for you to keep in mind:
- Gengar with Shadow Claw/Lick and Shadow Ball
- Palkia with Dragon Tail and Draco Meteor
- Rayquaza with Dragon Tail and Outrage
- Salamence with Dragon Tail and Draco Meteor
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch
Once you finally capture your own Giratina, the best moveset you can use is either the Shadow Claw or the Dragon Claw for Altered Forme Giratina. As for the Origin Forme, it can either be the Shadow Claw or the Shadow Ball.
The Altered Forme of Giratina is already back in the raids and you have until October 17 to catch it. Apparently, it is believed that the Origin Forme of the Legendary Pokémon is going to return after that date. If you are not really into hunting Shiny Pokémon, then it might be best to save your raid passes until the stronger version of this ghostly Legendary returns in Pokémon Go. For now, enjoy and make sure to keep this guide in mind!
