We're finally getting details on the Pokémon GO Community Day for January 2023, set on January 7 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., local time. This upcoming Community Day will feature none other than the Spiny Nut Pokémon Chespin. During the event, players able to evolve Quilladin can get a Chesnaught that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
If that isn't exciting enough, then these bonuses should:
- 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
- 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokemon.
- 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period.
- Lure Modules activated during the event lasts for three hours.
- Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event lasts for three hours.
- Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise.
All the bonuses mentioned are going to be active during the three hours of the Community Day. However, there are two other bonuses activating from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and these are:
- One additional Special Trade can be made, for a maximum of two for the day.
- Trades made during the event require 50% less Stardust.
Bonus Raid Battles
While the Community Day only lasts for three hours, there's still something to do from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. (local time) where trainers have the chance to take on special four-star Raid Battles. Those able to get a win in one of these raids can cause more Chespin to appear around the gym that hosted that raid for 30 minutes. Chespin that appear under these circumstances have the same chance of appearing as a Shiny Pokémon as those that appear during January Community Day’s three-hour event period.
For these four-star raids, prepare to go against Quilladin. But remember that Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes are needed to join these raids.
Special Research Story
During the Community Day, players can access a special research story titled Quality Quills. Tickets are available for $1 and keep a close watch when they go live. Tickets can be gifted to in-game friends though the Friendship level needs to be at least Great Friends.
