Pokémon GO revealed that Season 7 of the GO Battle League is starting on Monday, March 1. With the new season for the GO Battle League arriving at the same time as the Season of Legends, it’s more than guaranteed that Trainers around the world are sure to have an experience that can be described as legen – wait for it – dary.
Season 7 Timeline
For the new season, players can expect at least two rotations for different leagues. The actual schedule is:
- The Great League
- Starts: March 1 at 4:00 p.m. EST
- Ends: March 15 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- The Ultra League and its Premier Cup
- Starts: March 15 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: March 29 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- The Master League, Master League Classic, and the Great League
- Starts: March 29 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: April 5 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Only Pokémon that haven’t been powered up with Candy XL are allowed in Master League Classic.
- All Three Leagues
- Starts: April 5 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: April 12 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- The Great League and a new cup called Great League Remix
- Starts: April 12 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: April 26 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- The Ultra League and its Premier Cup
- Starts: April 26 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: May 10 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- The Master League, Master League Classic, and the Retro Cup
- Starts: May 10 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: May 17 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Only Pokémon that haven’t been powered up with Candy XL are allowed in Master League Classic.
- All Three Leagues
- Starts: May 17 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
- Ends: May 24 at 4:00 p.m. EDT
In addition to the timeline above, the Ranked play is also ending on May 24 at 4:00 p.m. EDT. There’s also going to be an unranked Kanto Cup beginning May 24 from 4:00 p.m. EDT until May 31 at 4:00 p.m. EDT.
Season 7 Cups
You’re probably wondering what the cups mentioned in the timeline are. Details are:
- Great League Remix
- The 10 most-used Pokémon in the Great League won’t be allowed in this version of the league. Pokémon GO announced that they’ll be sharing a list of which Pokémon are ineligible after March 15.
- Retro Cup
- Only the first 15 Pokémon types, excluding Dark, Steel, and Fairy types, can be used in this cup.
- CP limit is 1,500.
- Kanto Cup
- The CP limit for this cup is 1,500.
- Only Pokémon with a Pokédex number from #001 to #151 are allowed.
- The Trainer’s rating won’t be affected during this cup.
New for Season 7
While Season 7 has the same rank structure as that of Season 6, some changes are still introduced. These are:
- Trainers that reach rank 10 get the Pikachu Libre avatar items as a reward.
- Trainers that reach Legend rank earn avatar items and a pose inspired by Elesa.
- At rank 19, Trainers get an Elite Charged TM as well as an Elite Fast TM as an end-of-season reward.
Some of the Pokémon that Trainers encounter when they reach certain ranks are inspired by Elesa and these include:
- Rank 1:
- Zebstrika
- Rank 1 and up:
- Poliwhirl
- Flaaffy
- Pupitar
- Galvantula
- Rank 10 and up:
- Medicham
- Frillish
- Stunfisk
- Rank 15 and up:
- Scraggy
- Lampent
- Rufflet
- From rank 20 and up:
- Legendary Pokémon that are appearing in five-star raids at that time.
- Ace rank and up:
- Deino
- Legend rank:
- Pikachu Libre
- This is the only time that Trainers get to encounter this particular Pokémon during the season.
