A few Prison Break revival spoilers have made their way to the PB Writers Room Twitter page this week. The first revealed Michael has new tattoos (see them here), and the next announced three new characters will join the original Prison Break cast.
Sid will be played by Kunal Sharma (The Kids Are Alright). He’s described as“artsy” and “wired” according to previous reports. “ His offense, despite what his docket says, is solely being gay.” Whip, played by Augustus Prew ( Kick-Ass 2), is described as “ funny, crazy, and pretty damn sharp.” Little is known about the third cast member, Mustapha, who will be portrayed by Bobby Naderi (Argo).
During a brief Q&A, the writers also answered an interesting question about how Prison Break will portray Muslims, sparked by the fact the series is doing a good chunk of filming in Yemen. The creative team’s response indicates that writers are committed to portraying Islam in a positive light. “C-Note has converted to Islam & is a moderate voice against fanaticism, & you'll meet a Muslim heroine,” the tweet reads.
Dominic Purcell voiced a similar opinion on Australia's Sunrise morning show .“This new show is very politically motivated with lots of action and of course, the same kind of things that Prison Break was built on originally like love, redemption, and the universal theme of how far would you go to save a loved one. Now that the shoe is on the other foot so to speak, it’s now my turn to help my brother out.”
Robert Knepper (T-Bag), Rockmond Dunbar (C-Note), and Amaury Nolasco (Sucre), Paul Adelstein (Congressman Paul Kellerman) are all reprising their roles to help Lincoln break Michael out of prison. Faran Tahir (Iron Man ), Inbar Lavi ( The Last Ship ) and Marina Benedict ( Torchwood ) have each been cast in recurring roles, according to Deadline. “Lavi will play Sheba, a beautiful and smart operator/fixer/activist who becomes involved with Lincoln. Benedict is A&W, a crazed villainess who is unconcerned about her physical well-being but efficient in completing her deadly goals.”
In addition, Rick Yune ( Marco Polo ) will also join the cast as Ja, “a Korean identity thief whose disheveled appearance belies his genius.” Mark Feuerstein ( Royal Pains ) joins the cast as Sara’s new husband. Australian actor Steve Mouzakis (I, Frankenstein ) is cast as Van Gogh, “a bad-ass nut-job.” Amin El Gamal ( The Newsroom ) will play a “heavily recurring role” as a mystery character named Cyclops.
Ex-spouses Wentworth Miller and Sarah Wayne-Callies caught up with Access Hollywood to explain how their relationship will pick back up in Season 5. “Last time we left our hero, he was dead. I think that has certain implications for our relationship,” Callies said. Miller quickly reminds her, “But we were married.”
“I don't know if you ever divorced yoru Czech stripper girlfriend. I’m not sure how that happened,” Callies joked back. But seriously, “These are people we’re catching up with seven years later, a lot happens in seven years. There’s a lot of water under that bridge. There’s a lot of pain and a lot of loss and more important than anything else, a child.”
Since the Prison Break trailer released just a few weeks ago, the cast has gone wild posting set photos to Twitter and Instagram. Check them out below:
