Project xCloud has been a great deal among gamers who are interested in the potential of cloud gaming. Last month, Microsoft announced that Project xCloud will be supporting full touch controls for most of its games. The company even demonstrated several games that played via touch controls, including Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice and Gears 5. However, Microsoft informed fans that it would be releasing touch control setups for every single game sometime in the future.
Unlike a physical controller, the functionality of which does not depend on the game you're playing, touch controls need to be tailored for specific games. To achieve this, Microsoft has been working with video game developers to create functional touch control setups. Now, the company has announced that 10 games on Xbox Game Pass for Android support dedicated touch controls. These games include:
- Dead Cells
- Gucamelee! 2
- Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
- Hotshot Racing
- Killer Instinct
- New Super Lucky's Tale
- Slay The Spire
- Streets of Rage 4
- Tell Me Why
- UnderMine
While the games on the list aren't necessarily the most flashy releases, it's good to see that Microsoft is keeping up its promise. Some games on the list like Tell Me Why can easily be enjoyed using touch control. However, at the same time, it is interesting to see that Microsoft is also offering dedicated touch controls for action-heavy games like Streets of Rage 4 and Killer Instinct, games that players likely would want to use a physical controller to play.
Nevertheless, there are all kinds of players, who enjoy all kinds of things. What Microsoft is doing for the gaming ecosystem as a whole is already an appreciable effort. There's no doubt that PC and consoles have improved quite dramatically in the last decade, but there hasn't been quite a revolution in gaming as with game streaming.
With that being said, Project xCloud currently features 11 games with dedicated touch controls, including Minecraft Dungeons. Expect more support for touch controls to come in the near future.
