Radiohead is back and is confirmed to play its first live shows since 2012. The band is set to headline three festivals this 2016: Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Openair St. Gallen in Switzerland and Nos Alive in Lisbon, Portugal. This confirmed the rumors that Radiohead is back in the musical game , which arose after Radiohead created a new holding company called Dawn Chorus LLP. Radiohead does this prior to every album release .
Openair St. Gallen happens to be one of Switzerland’s longest running festivals, with more than 100,000 people attending every year. Primavera Sound manages to draw in a similar attendance numbers as one of Spain’s largest festivals. Nos Alive, held in Portugal’s capital city, saw Muse and The Prodigy headline in 2015.
Radiohead last went on tour for the release of its previous album, The King of Limbs , in 2012 . According to Consequence of Sound and its inside source close to the band, Radiohead is expecting to headline several festivals in North America as well as the aforementioned European ones, but exactly which ones in North America remain to be seen.
The most recent bit of music released by Radiohead happened to be a prospective theme song for the 24th James Bond movie, Spectre. While the movie’s producers rejected the Radiohead song in favor of a Sam Smith theme song, Radiohead released the track , which is also called Spectre, for the general public’s listening pleasure anyway.
This festival season seems to be shaping up to be an interesting one. LCD Soundsystem has been reunited in time for Coachella this year , and they’ll also be headlining Bonnaroo and FYF Fest. LCD Soundsystem is rumored to be headlining the new Panorama festival in New York City, which is organized by the same company behind Coachella, AEG Live.
The line-up for Panorama has not been announced yet, but it would be a major getfor AEG Live if it managed to bring both Radiohead and LCD Soundsystem as headliners to New York City for the festival’s inaugural year.
