Fnatic vs. DAMWON Gaming
The matchup between these two teams was played on Chalet. DWG banned Capitao on the attack so that Fnatic would not be able to clear them off certain angles like the library, balcony, and bathroom. On the other hand, Fnatic banned Buck to make it harder for the attackers to open floors vertically.
DWG started on defense and was able to take four rounds by playing aggressively. They only lost two rounds in the first half, which resulted in a 4-2 split. After the side switch, Fnatic started gaining momentum and got three rounds. However, DWG was able to win more gunfights that allowed them to win the game with a 7-5 scoreline.
This win puts DWG in second place and Fnatic following them in third place.
CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming vs. GUTS Gaming
The matchup between the two best Japanese teams was played on Kafe Dostoyevsky, which is a defender-sided map. GUTS banned Montagne and Valkyrie as a target ban to their opponents. This didn’t stop CAG at all as they just roamed around the map and got some kills. This aggressive playstyle got CAG five rounds on defense. The first half resulted in a 5-1 scoreline. GUTS were too far behind to catch up and could not outgun their opponents. CAG took advantage of it and won the game with a 7-3 scoreline, which confirmed their spot for the Six Major. GUTS will not qualify for the Six Major or even the playoffs. They will have to wait for the next split to try again.
The other three teams, DAMWON Gaming, Fnatic, and FAV gaming will have to go through playoffs to qualify for the Six Major.
